Two suspected drug dealers abandoned their accomplice after crashing a stolen car following a police chase in Derbyshire.

Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit said two occupants of a blue Peugeot 206 fled after the crash on Newshaw Lane, Hadfield at midnight (21 September), “leaving their mate to explain the Class A and B drugs, dealer bags, cash and TWOC’d car.”

Officers detained an 18-year-old man from Hyde at the scene and arrested him on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and possession of class A and B drugs.

A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesperson said: “Officers attempted to stop a Peugeot 206 in Newshaw Lane, Hadfield, at midnight (21 Sep). The car made off, stopped after a collision (no other vehicles involved) and two occupants ran away.

"An 18-year-old man from Hyde was detained at the scene and was then arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent and possession of class A and B drugs.”
